Choosing a TFT simply on its head rather than paying special attention to movement and type. Also, viewing this breed simply as a Toy - the Toy Fox Terrier is unique, both a Toy and a Terrier. It should not look as if it is on steroids or could pass for a rat terrier. This is a mighty dog in a SMALL package.

The Toy Fox Terrier has a very specific conformation type. The body should be compact, with well muscled hind quarters and shoulders. The head, legs and back in correct proportion with entire body in well balanced athletic build.

Let me mention several common faults in the Toy Fox Terrier. Tails that are too long; not docked (1-3 inches in length), bulging eyes, head too round, back too long to appear to "fit" with the rest of the square compact athletic body.
